Remec Loses $6 Million, Layoffs 700 Workers

It’s too early to say what the local impacts will be from the merger of Hewlett-Packard Co. and Compaq, but the chances are they won’t be much, at least over the short term, says Bruce Ahern, a local high-tech analyst.

“Obviously, there’s going to be consolidation and a significant overlap of some areas, but from a local standpoint, there won’t be any downsizing at least in the short term,” Ahern said.
