INDIAN PHARMA DR REDDY’S LIFTS Q2 NET PROFIT 32 PCT

Indian drug firm Dr Reddy’s Laboratories (BSE:500124) on Saturday reported an increase of 32 per cent in consolidated net profit for the second quarter ended September 30, 2010, to Rs 286.7 crore (US$64.5 million) on strong performance in global generic segment.

The net profit for the same quarter last year was Rs 217.3 crore, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories said in a statement.

Total income for the quarter ended September 30, this year stood at Rs 1,870.4 crore, as against Rs 1,836.8 crore for the corresponding period last fiscal year.

Revenues from the global generics for the second quarter stood at Rs 1,370 crore, a year on year (Y-o-Y) growth of 8 per cent, while revenues from pharmaceutical services and active ingredients showed a year-on-year decline of 14 per cent, the company said.

The company launched 41 new generic products, filed 21 new product registrations and filed 13 drug master files (DMFs), it added.
